In my communion message on Sunday morning, May 2, I mentioned that Dr. John Piper's chapter about suffering in his book DESIRING GOD is worth the price of the book because it gives a quite thorough, God-exalting, Biblical perspective on the subject. Here is another recommended book: SUFFERING AND THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD, edited by John Piper and Justin Taylor. It contains chapters by Mark Talbot, Stephen Saint, Carl F. Ellis, David Powlison, John Eareckson Tada, Dr. Piper, and Justin Taylor. And it is recommended by Jerry Rankin, President of the Southern Baptist International Mission Board.
